A trip to Shanksville

Left behind
Pam and I took the last couple of days to go to visit the site of the United Flight 93 disaster in Shanksville, Pennsylvania (about 750 miles round-trip by car). I had been thinking about making the trip for a couple of years, to pay my respects and maybe to learn a little something about what this was all about, and the upcoming fifth anniversary seemed like a suitable reason to do this now.
I have a Flickr set of some photos I took at the chapel and at the temporary memorial set up there. The weather was gray and drizzly, turning later on the drive back to hard rain, not at all like the morning of September 11, 2001. Afterwards, Pam said that she was glad we made the long trip.
Incidentally, neither of us has seen the movie, so that was not the reason for the trip.
